Shaping Our Community.

What We Do

The team at Shaypes are passionate about supporting young people and adults in the local community. We understand that some people struggle with social interaction and our friendly experts are here to help.

Our team organise regular events and activities in the local area, encouraging young people to get involved with physical activity and build friendships.
From yoga classes and theatre visits to restaurant dinners and beach trips, we have activities that everyone will enjoy. At Shaypes, we understand that funding can be a barrier for some young people and their families to get the support they need. We offer expert advice on how to access a social worker and receive funding through your local authority. Once a social worker is in place, our team will liaise directly with them and report back on the progress and development our young people are making at Shaypes.

  Who We Are

We have built a friendly, professional team at Shaypes who are on hand to promote an active, social and healthy lifestyle for all young people. Our team understand that for young people with learning disabilities, making friends, socialising and staying active can be challenging. We support young people with: Asperger’s, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, and more.
During all half term and christmas and summer holidays we are open and people are welcome 363 days a year. To all people who have applied for their grant. If you need help with this

Pricing

For young people already receiving benefits, support through Shaypes is fully funded. You can fund all of the activities we organise through Shaypes using direct payments allocated by social workers. It is essential that young people applying for our activities and events already have their social worker in place, as they perform necessary risk assessments and can help guide you through the process.

You are entitled to funding for Shaypes activities if you receive:

Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

Our services are based on the direct payments young people receive through social worker support. We are flexible with timings and do everything we can to facilitate further learning for everyone’s requirements. Young people choose to take part in as much, or as little as they wish and all participants are collected and dropped off at their own homes.
